How Dare MLK Make a Eulogy Political?
This afternoon we gather in the quiet of this sanctuary to pay our last tribute of respect to these beautiful children of God....They are the martyred heroines of a holy crusade for freedom and human dignity.
And so this afternoon in a real sense they have something to say to each of us in their death.They have something to say to every minister of the gospel who has remained silent behind the safe security of stained-glass windows.They have something to say to every politician [Audience:] (Yeah) who has fed his constituents with the stale bread of hatred and the spoiled meat of racism.
They have something to say to a federal government that has compromised with the undemocratic practices of southern Dixiecrats (Yeah) and the blatant hypocrisy of right-wing northern Republicans.
They have something to say to every Negro (Yeah) who has passively accepted the evil system of segregation and who has stood on the sidelines in a mighty struggle for justice.
They say to each of us, black and white alike, that we must substitute courage for caution.They say to us that we must be concerned not merely about who murdered them, but about the system, the way of life, the philosophy which produced the murderers.
Their death says to us that we must work passionately and unrelentingly for the realization of the American dream [...]

You know what? You keep claiming you’re being painted as someone you’re not. We’re painting you with the brush you’re giving us with your comments each day. If you’re not who we think you are in terms of your political views, then stop spewing bullshit. We’ll judge you on what you say because that’s all we have.
You’ve sat there and told me conservatives have the similar civil rights records as liberals and you want me to take you seriously? You’ve told me about your theories written on conservative web sites echoing what Saddam’s “number two” guy said regarding moving WMD’s to Syria, when that guy hasn’t even been in Iraq since like, 1989, and you want us to not laugh at you?
You’ve claimed that the Bush Administration is proof of MLK’s dream working just because he’s hired people of color in his administration, and those people of color are the ones that disagree with his policies on race and were never put in a position to effect racial change in his cabinet?
You’ve been upset that I wrote about the political aspect of CSK’s funeral, feigning your outrage that she wasn’t getting respect (as if conservatives are truly offended when Civil Rights workers don’t get respect – please, they’ve been hanging them from fucking trees for the past century), and you want us to believe you’re sincere?
You’ve told me that the international community was ready to invade Iraq when we did, despite Bush never having a second UN resolution, despite increased cooperation from the Iraqis, and despite several reports from both the UN and IAEA saying clearly, "we have no evidence of a nuclear program, we have no evidence of an Iraqi attempt to get uranium from Africa, and we have no evidence of any chemical or biological weapons, and we now have unfettered access to palaces, and we’re finding absolutely nothing illegal and destroying what is," And you want us to not think you’re insane?

I brought you facts of everything you are claiming I'm insane about. You deleted them.
To claim that Conservatives are the only people hanging people from trees is insane. Thats one of my points. If you've spent anytime somewhere other then your cozy liberal atmosphere you would realize this. All you have are straw man arguments,and things people tell you. By the way you write, you are very sheltered and believe all of these biased theories. Hell, you've even claimed that the Liberals were the ones who solely started the civil rights movement, even though I proved it wrong with facts. Then you claim that it's only the conservatives who are racists. It's hard to get your point across when you delete posts, and don't pay attention to the facts."Democrats were conservatives back then and vice versa, so you're wrong,...blah blah blah..." So many labels define how you think, all I'm saying is step back from this partisan political bait and think about it. Everything is not black and white. Ridiculous shit has happened in the history of our country. Hell, it's happened in every country. It's time to move on and come up with plans.
Where are your plans ? Where are the progressives ideas ? All I see are you guys pointing out whats wrong with everyone and no way to change it. It's conceded to think that your ideas are the only ones that'll work and that everyone else is stupid. C'mon man, you sound smarter then that.
This country was designed to change.Make a change. Revolt. Make a statement. I'll follow you if you come up with some plans. Come up with something original. Come up with something other then what the Liberal talking points of the day are. It's so typical. Both right and left blogs are all filled with the same things. No matter which liberal blog you read , it looks like this place.All righty blogs look alike too. I just think something good can come out of it if we all got together and came up with some plans. That'll only happen once people put down their swords and stop concentrating on semantics.
