I catch her almost on a daily basis... she is sometimes very very good, and I get fired up. SOmetimes, (especially when not discussing politics) she can be pretty annoying. But don't get me wrong... I love Randi! Ed Schultz is fair too. Progressive radio is growing!~

Anonymous, yes, totally agreed – Larry King is completely worthless. I remember a few years back he used to cover news stories each night and provide at least a small amount of insightful journalism.
As did Dateline NBC…
As did ABC’s Primetime
As did 20/20…
However – the art of network news magazine and cable news journalism is totally a dying breed. If you look at Larry King, cable news (at least during the day) and the network news magazine shows (with the exception of 60 minutes, who still does the journalism thing), all you have are cruise ship stories, “missing person” stories, detective stories, murder mystery who-done-it stories, etc.
Remember the 48 hours news magazine that formerly ran on CBS? Well, now it’s called “48 hours mysteries” or something like that, because all they cover is missing people and unsolved murders.
It’s all bullshit – and as a result, real journalism – real political news that breaks every day that could be reported to educate and inform the American public, goes uncovered.
Hence “Oprah’s book club” actually sharing the cover of my city’s local newspaper with the Hamas victory last week.
It’s so stunning it’s almost criminal.
So, back to your point – Larry King is in fact totally fucking worthless. Watch Randi Rhodes on corporate mainstream media, is not.
My point is what can be gained from an interview by a guy who proudly doesn't "prepare" for any interview..i doubt he's ever even listened to her show....So why watch that fool? Who does he have on tomorrow? Baby Jessica is getting married...so it's probably her. Plus 24 is on...don't you want to find out how we're beating the terrorists?
I thought terrorism didn't exist ? I thought Bush made it all up to get free gas ? I'm confused.

60 minutes does amazing journalism, 90% of the time. They cover stories your typical "Runaway Bride Cruise Ship Oprah Book Club Missing White Teens" cable/network news show won't even go near.

After reading a bit more about it you can honestly look me in the proverbial eye and tell me
1. That it was politically motivated
2. Where Bush's MISSING military service is, where he was at that time, and why no one - not even the White House, in all the documents released can account for where he was during that time
3. How joining the national guard back in the 60's wasn't a direct dodge of the Vietnam war Bush himself believed in at the time
4. How anything 60 minutes did, apologized for fucking up, and subsequently got people reprimanded matches ANY of the missing accountability from the lying sack of shit 'swift boat' group that worked directly for the Bush administration to smear someone who actually was there.

I’ve been trying to think about how I want to respond to this.
First of all, I didn’t polarize shit. Your “uniter, not a divider” president did that, not I. I comment on events, offering my opinion, I don’t drive wedges here, I call people out on it who do.
Go Google “gay marriage amendment” if you want to look at completely fabricated wedge factors in politics. How a Bush supporter could ever…EVER preach to anyone about polarization of this company is beyond me. I offer proof through the greatest polarization and advantage-taking issue of all by the Republican Right: 9/11.
Just ask rstuv_xyz, who comments on this site…he used to take classes in the WTC and has lived with those towers dominating the skyline his entire life in New Jersey – he’ll tell you the mood of that region before, during and after as far as feeling united is concerned.
We had not only this country – but the entire world – united against one cause, like never before. The U.N, NATO, the EU…even France (remember, “we are all Americans today” dominating the Le Monde headlines the next day?) was 100% with us, totally committed.
Now look at our country. Now look at the world. You say you don’t like polarization? Take a look at the smirking drunk at the podium tomorrow night, defending his unconstitutional wiretaps, then come back here and talk about how much polarization bothers you. It’s how Karl Rove governs. That’s it, period. It’s what he does. You want more unity, start with his fat ass.
Secondly – and this is very important – People like Al Franken, Randi Rhodes and others on Air America are much, much different than Limbaugh and O’Reilly. I’ll give you some differences to ponder.
1. Right wing hosts, especially Limbaugh, screen their calls and their audience very, very carefully. Much like a Bush Town Hall Meeting or campaign stop. An overwhelming amount of their calls are in lock step with their points, and those who aren’t get their mics muted, their lines disconnected, or overwhelmingly denied access to the host in the first place.
2. Air America, especially Rhodes, is much, much different. When someone calls her screener with a differing point of view, that call is almost always put to the TOP OF THE LIST. She welcomes and thrives on debate – she nuts, she’s a bulldog, and absolutely cannot stand lying, and calls people on it…even those who are liberal. She does it every single day.
3. Which brings me to my next point, and if you read one thing in this ‘tirade,’ believe this. Rush, O’Reilly, etc, lie. Read that again, now with this modifier – they constantly lie.
I didn’t think this was the case for most of my awareness of them. In other words, I thought they simply had a conservative viewpoint – that they were hateful, and just present one side to justify their hate, and that all they did was give you a one-sided, super-biased picture.
Not true. They lie, and they lie all the time.
4. Part of what Air America does is dispel myths and lies. They debate the other side constantly – even invite them on their shows (tell me the last time Rush had a liberal guest on his show, and I’ll give you a free oxycontin). In fact, Air America is extremely busy researching, and debunking without any shadow of a doubt the lies the right tells.
To compare AAR to Right wing radio clearly demonstrates you’ve listened to neither very carefully. It’s a completely different ball of wax. AAR exists to RESPOND to the right wing stuff. That’s why people listen. To compare the two would be like saying the Civil Rights movement is as radical and hateful as the Nazi movement it counters. Is there passion on both sides? Absolutely. It’s just that one of them has a far better way of dealing with it.
Finally, not all conservatives are wrong. True fiscal conservatives, from pre-Regan area have a lot of good points, and many of them are anti-Bush and anti-Religious Right.
Social conservatives on the other hand, have NEVER been on the right side of any issue…through the entire American and dare I say – world history. Ever. In that instance, I will say it – social conservatives are wrong on every issue that ever existed, 100% of the time as long as there is a progressive view that opposes it.
First of all, while I do not practice organized religion, you're acting as though I've had no exposure to it. My father was a monk for 10 years, as was his brother, and my brother was an alter boy at his Catholic Church for 7.
I went to the very college founded by said monks above, the same Catholic school O'Reilly went to.
I have read many books and have been exposed to organized religion my entire life.
I have zero problem with organized religions. I have a problem with the far right wing sects of these groups - as do you, which you indicated above with your Pat Robertson comments.
What I do have an issue with is using that religion to discriminate, polarize, or otherwise harm individuals, society or human growth/progress, hiding behind that religion.
Now – my super-religious grandparents, uncles and cousins who haven’t missed Mass in 32 years? More power to them. I say, if it works in your life and inspires you, go nuts. It is not for me, but I will never infringe on your right to practice it.
You’re painting a picture as if organized religion is discriminated against in our country. Other than the Muslim community, I have yet to really see a major “organized religion” discrimination practiced in the workplace or in our society at large.
Now – RELIGIOUS people pushing for discrimination? That occurs daily. Every single day. From your local Catholic Charities not extending domestic partner benefits to their workers, all the way on up to your president.
People pushing for religion in government? That’s bad for everyone, and if you need some more guidance on that I suggest you visit one of the more radical Middle Eastern nations. Chuch/State separations are there to protect religion FROM government as well. You may not be a big fan of that, but most of the country, including it’s founders believed that’s a really big deal.
Do I have an issue with those people? You’re damn right I do. And if you think their behavior is ok, then I’ve got issues with you too.

What makes people like Rush wrong on a daily basis is that HE IS WRONG.
He’s not wrong because I hate his opinion, he’s wrong because much of the time, he lies…his facts are wrong. Why can’t you see the difference?
Here, I’ll give you an example. Just the other day Rush defended the Bush wiretaps with the classic, “Clinton did it too” argument, as if that makes it justified. Now, at face value, does that make Rush wrong? No, of course not. It makes his opinion kinda childish and doesn’t excuse or defend the current administration’s behavior, but it doesn’t make him wrong….but wait.
There’s only one problem with his argument. He lied. He’s wrong. He lied to you, and me, and the only difference between me and his average listener is that I didn’t buy it. I looked it up, and researched it. Clinton did no such thing.
Now, I’ll give you an O’Reilly example. In defending his position against gay marriage, O’Reilly claimed that since Sweden legalized gay marriage they saw a sharp decline in overall marriage frequency…you know, the old, “gay marriage will destroy hetero-marriage” argument. At face value, it makes sense, right?
Well, research what he said a bit further and you’ll find:
1.Sweden doesn’t have any gay marriage law. It’s illegal in Sweden to marry the same sex.
2. Sweden does allow for civil unions, and since the law was passed, marriage has actually gone up in frequency.
Again, why would you waste your energy by calling me an extremist because I fight against people like this? And why would you say I am “just as bad” as those on the Right, simply because I’m dispelling their lies? In this case, I don't believe I'm right and they're wrong...the facts are correct, and I'm simply casting a light on them, so people can see these conservatives are in fact, 100% not correct.
It's as if someone were to say, "water freezes at 112F," and I say, "whoa, hold on, no it doesn't, you're wrong," and you follow by accusing me of being the same as them? Are you kidding me man?

See, once again you’ve totally missed my point and it’s either because you obviously aren’t reading what I’m saying to you, or you’re a fucking moron. Either way, it’s really frustrating, yet confirming my belief about people who don’t really know how all this works.
No where have I ever said, in these comments or anywhere on my site that I profess to have all the answers or even most of them.
What I do say, and what my philosophy is, is that many answers are out there. All you have to do is a little reading and research (I chuckled at your accusation that I don’t read – it’s basically all I do..) My site, and the thousands of other liberal blogs that are much, much more established than mine, simply give people access to the info you’ll never hear, read or see in the mainstream press.
What I am saying is that there is a different between liberal radio talk and conservative radio talk. They don’t just twist things, they totally lie about them, every single day. Liberal radio takes those lies and exposes them, my friend.
The point you don’t understand is they do so not just by disagreeing with the points – they offer proof. Liberal radio isn’t just someone yelling into a mic (well, except maybe Rhodes) about matters of opinion.
*Sigh* I’m forced to give you yet another example that you won’t read or pay attention to.
During the Kerry campaign, on a daily basis, Rush would try to present Kerry as someone soft on terrorism – you know, because Kerry never had that foreign relations and combat experience Bush had.
Anyway, Rush stated for a couple of consecutive shows that Kerry “never ONCE mentioned terrorism in his DNC speech! Never once!” (read that in your best fat-guy conservative feigned outrage voice).
So – Al Franken, as he always does, would “go to the tape.” He played not one, not two, but four different clips of Kerry saying exactly what Rush claimed he never said.
I’m giving you just a couple examples – they de-tangle these lies via media EVERY SINGLE DAY. It’s what they do.
Franken even plays a game on his show each Friday in which callers have to guess if those on the Right are lying, weaseling or telling the truth about any given statement they’ve made. I challenge you to listen to it. Give me your email address and I’ll send you some of the clips from the show.
So let me ask you one question – how does what I just said have ANYTHING to do with the narcissism you’re accusing me of? All I’m saying is that liberal radio has a completely different M.O. than their right wing counterparts and I’m giving you examples.
If you cannot accept the fact that Rush lies on his show on a daily basis – hell I’ll even listen to him during my lunch hour today and pick out at least three of them – then it is you who is far gone. Not only are you far gone, you’re a sheep because you believe it. And, if you don’t believe it, you’re mistaken in comparing what they do, to what liberal radio does. There is a huge difference.
and what you don't get , is that the Conservatives spend all day tearing apart the lies from the left.
